Five Ways to Get Better at Skateboarding and Have More Fun

Like most beginner skateboarders, you want to get better at skateboarding.

It’s much more fun going to the skatepark when you have tricks to bring with you. Even if you don’t have many tricks, it’s a great feeling when you are capable of riding a skatepark to the fullest extent.

In this blog post, you will learn 5 successful ways to improve your skills as quickly as possible, so you can have more fun while skating!

1. Skate More, Practice Every Day

This may seem simple enough, but if you really want to improve, practicing is a must. This means actually practicing and not just skating around. The more hours you put in, the quicker you will see success. It’s as simple as that.

If skateboarding is important to you, then treat it as such. Stop spending your time doing so many things, leaving only a small amount of time for skateboarding. Make it a priority to skate.

Focus more of your time and energy on skateboarding. This will play a huge factor in your success.

2. Step Outside Your Comfort Zone

You can’t be afraid to fall or hurt yourself. If it happens, then deal with it, but don’t worry about it. Worry only leads to more worry. Just skate , be safe, and have fun.

One of the worst habits you can have as a skater is being scared. This turns into “chickenfoot”, which means you chicken-out, kicking the board away, instead of committing to landing your trick.

As a skateboarder, you must develop courage to step outside your comfort zone. Learn how to conquer fear and skateboarding becomes even more enjoyable.

3. Skate With Better Skateboarders

Skating with talented skateboarders is a great hack for getting better at skateboarding.

It’s a proven fact that you become like the people you surround yourself with. If you surround yourself with skaters better than you, it’s almost guaranteed that you too will become a better skateboarder.

The next best thing would be to watch skate videos. Watch your favorite pro skaters and study how they skate. You could also slow videos down frame by frame to learn certain tricks. A few pro skaters did this when they started out.

4. Study and Critique Yourself

Another really great way to improve your skateboarding skills, is by watching yourself on video to see from a third-person perspective. This gives you the chance to critique yourself, see what you’re doing wrong, and what you have to change to get it right.

5. See Yourself Successful

You will never outperform your self-image.

Visualize yourself performing your tricks successfully. Do this as many times as it takes until you actually believe you can do it. Now when you try the trick, you’re doing it with confidence, and expecting success.

This is one the secrets to skateboarding like a pro. See yourself as a successful skateboarder and you will begin to perform like one.
